Emily St. James reviews Club Kid

Turney takes us on a time traveling "trip" through the global club scene, reflecting a young adult's carefree and wild experiences through poetry. The pieces weave together through time references and metaphor in addition to concrete form and imagery to embrace not only the beat of the music in time but also the beat of the heart of the poet. She winds down the beat toward the end as her reason for retiring from the scene becomes evident. It's a wonderful collection of the freedom of youth and the changing with time.
